Not Good With Farewells
Not Good With Farewells
Synopsis & Key Lore
- Debriefing at the Hotel: Regrouping outside the Goethe Grand Hotel, March 7th, Dan Heng, and the Trailblazer discuss their next steps. Without the exact coordinates of the Stellaron and still puzzled by Cocolia’s hostility, the Trailblazer reveals the recurrent dreams of Cocolia conversing with an ominous entity. Dan Heng hypothesizes that the Stellaron housed within the Trailblazer’s body is resonating with the planet’s core anomaly.
- Heart-to-Heart in Rivet Town: While the Trailblazer rests, Bronya and Seele overlook Rivet Town. Bronya confesses her lifelong envy of Seele’s genuine freedom compared to her own rigid, scripted upbringing as guardian successor. Envisioning a united Belobog where Overworld and Underworld stand together against the Eternal Freeze, Seele promises to help build that bridge.
- Bronya’s Departure & Secret Letter: Resolved to uncover why Cocolia hid the truth and succumbed to the whispers, Bronya decides to return to the surface alone to confront her mother. She entrusts Seele with a letter addressed to the Astral Express crew and the Landau siblings (Serval and Gepard), asking for their intervention if she fails to sway Cocolia. Seele vows that if Bronya falls into danger, she will come to save her no matter what.
- Ascent Through the Furnace Core: Regrouping the next morning, Oleg confirms that Natasha is the real leader of Wildfire and assigns Sampo Koski to guide the crew back to the surface via the unlocked Furnace Core. Upon reading Bronya’s letter, the crew learns about the Landau family and prepares for the final ascent.
Dialogue & Mission Progression
1. Go Over Everything with the Group
Mission Description: The truth of the planet is almost clear: The great calamity that ravaged the planet originated from the Stellaron.
The past Guardians have known about this but could do nothing about it. In the end, they chose to lie so that the city and its people could continue to live on the brink of desperation in this fabricated momentary peace.
Share your thoughts with your companions and decide on your next moves.
(Approach Goethe Grand Hotel)
- March 7th: Ahhhh… Well, now that we’re done with that whole situation in the Underworld, we can finally look for the Stellaron.
- March 7th: sigh But thinking about it, I feel a bit bad about Clara… We promised her that our talks with Svarog would go peacefully…
- [Trailblazer] Svarog attacked first.
- Dan Heng: {NICKNAME}, you tried your best to persuade him. It’s my fault for not preparing better for such a situation in advance.
- [Trailblazer] Sorry, I wasn’t able to persuade Svarog…
- Dan Heng: You tried your best, don’t blame yourself. I should’ve considered such a situation in advance. And it was Svarog who attacked first, we didn’t have any other choice.
- [Trailblazer] I forgot to be more diplomatic.
- Dan Heng: That certainly isn’t our area of strength.
- March 7th: I didn’t mean for you guys to start beating yourselves up over it! Look on the bright side — things turned out alright, didn’t they? Now everyone knows that the real problem here is the Stellaron, and they’re willing to help us out.
- Dan Heng: But we still have a lot left to figure out. For instance…
- [Trailblazer] …Where’s the Stellaron?
- Dan Heng: Exactly. We don’t even have the Stellaron’s coordinates and location. Cocolia’s sudden change in attitude is also very curious.
- [Trailblazer] …Why does Cocolia have it in for us?
- Dan Heng: Exactly. There must be a reason for this sudden change in her attitude. And we still don’t have the coordinates and location of the Stellaron.
- [Trailblazer] …Who is this Sampo character!?
- Dan Heng: …That’s not of foremost concern. What’s important is that we still don’t have the exact location of the Stellaron, nor have we figured out the reason behind Cocolia’s hostility.
- [Trailblazer] Actually, I’ve been having some dreams…
- Dan Heng: Dreams?
- March 7th: Oh, I remember you mentioned something about strange dreams before…
(The Trailblazer tells Dan Heng and March 7th about the voices heard in recent dreams)
- Dan Heng: …All three dreams were the same, with Cocolia and that other voice…
- March 7th: It would be weird to call it a coincidence.
- Dan Heng: I’m wondering if these dreams aren’t just random, if there is some meaning behind them… Maybe you’re having them because…
- March 7th: Because of… the Stellaron inside {F#her}{M#him}?
- Dan Heng: That’s my hunch, but I have no proof.
- March 7th: Well then that’s as good as nothing for now… So, what should we do when we get back above ground?
- Dan Heng: We solve a puzzle one piece at a time. Let’s get some rest first. We can discuss next moves tomorrow with Wildfire.
2. Rest at the Goethe Grand Hotel & Seele’s Heart-to-Heart with Bronya
(Talk to Gertie at the hotel counter)
- Gertie: You’re back! I’ve heard from Wildfire that you helped resolve that whole situation with Svarog. Amazing! It must have been exhausting. Please, have some food and get a good night’s rest.
(The Trailblazer falls into a deep sleep. Meanwhile, Seele and Bronya converse privately overlooking Rivet Town)
- Seele: Over there, see that? That used to be the worst street in Rivet Town… and it’s also where I grew up.
- Seele: My friends and I used to wander those streets thinking about where to find our next meal. That is, until Chief Oleg got me out and took me to the orphanage.
- Seele: There I learned to read and write from Natasha. At the age of 10, I started to patrol the mines with Oleg, occasionally getting into fights with the local thugs…
- Bronya: …That sounds nice.
- Seele: Nice? You being sarcastic with me?
- Bronya: Oh! No, sorry. Life in the Underworld is difficult, I shouldn’t be speaking about it so lightly.
- Seele: sigh You’re always so serious… It really gets on people’s nerves sometimes, you know?
- Bronya: Right… Uh, what I meant was… I kind of envy you, Seele.
- Bronya: For as long as I can remember, my days have been an endless cycle of studying, etiquette lessons, and training.
- Bronya: Every day all I hear is “Remember who you are, Bronya,” “This is against the Architects’ Admonishments, Bronya,” “Ladies shouldn’t use such foul language, Bronya”…
- Bronya: …Some may envy this kind of life, but I have felt… trapped. When every choice and every goal has already been made for you… You probably can’t imagine how that feels.
- Seele: …No, I can’t… But more importantly, what kind of “foul language” were you using?
- Bronya: …
- Bronya: “In the name of the Architects, I shall stick this spear into your nostril!”
- Seele: Hahaha, that’s it? That’s nothing. Looks like I’ll have to teach you some Underworld slang before you go back.
- Bronya: No, no, that won’t be necessary.
- Seele: It’ll be better than poking people’s nostrils at least…
- Seele: I never thought that I’d be here having a heart-to-heart with the future guardian. As a kid, I didn’t meet many people who lived in the Overworld. I only heard stories from the grown-ups and figured you were all just a bunch of cold snobs.
- Bronya: I’ve heard from some Silvermane veterans that before the orders were made to seal off the Underworld from the Overworld, there was no difference between the two places. Everybody ate the same food, chatted about the same topics, celebrated the same festivals…
- Bronya: Even though times are different now, things like the joys and sorrows of life, the ties between people… These precious things must certainly still connect us all.
- Bronya: If there is a way to bridge the gap between the two worlds, we can definitely go back to the time when you and I were not divided. When we could stand side by side against the Eternal Freeze and the Fragmentum.
- Seele: …
- Seele: I’m not like you. I don’t have that many grand plans for the future. But… if that’s the future you want, I’m willing to build this bridge with you.
- Bronya: Thank you, Seele. Your trust is very important to me.
- Seele: Speaking of which, what are you going to do next? What Svarog revealed must’ve made quite an impact, huh…
- Bronya: …Yes. I thought I was prepared for anything, but… As long as I am the guardian’s successor, those truths will come out sooner or later. But why does my mother hide it from me, and why does she want me to hunt down the outsiders who know about the nature of the Stellaron… It just… it doesn’t make sense.
- Bronya: I’ve thought it over. There’s only one thing I can do — go ask her directly.
- Seele: You… Hold on, you’re not really going, are you? Alone? You can’t, this plan is…
- Bronya: I’ve already thought it through, Seele. I am Madam Cocolia’s daughter. That will never change.
- Bronya: Be it my duties as her heir, or a Silvermane Guard, I must face my problems head-on. Even if…
- Seele: Bronya…
- Bronya: This is for you, Seele. Please help me pass it on to the outsiders. If… If I’m unable to see you again… They’ll know what to do.
- Seele: …Okay, I understand. You’ve made up your mind, and there’s nothing I can say that will change it. But remember this — if you run into trouble, I will come to save you, no matter what.
- Bronya: Then I’ll be waiting for you.
- Bronya: So… did you come to this spot when you were a child?
- Seele: Of course. I just didn’t appreciate how nice it was at the time. Very nice…
3. Meet with the Group & Bronya’s Letter
(The Trailblazer awakens refreshed and meets March 7th and Dan Heng outside)
- March 7th: Took you long enough sleepy head. We’ve been waiting all day!
- Dan Heng: {NICKNAME}, did you have a dream again last night?
- [Trailblazer] Not this time.
- [Trailblazer] I dreamed that Hook and Pom-Pom got into a squabble.
- [Trailblazer] I can’t remember.
- Dan Heng: Well then, let’s go find Wildfire to discuss our next move.
(Approach Seele, Oleg, and Sampo)
- Sampo: It’s the bane of Svarog! The big hero of the Underworld — {NICKNAME}! And the other big heroes, Dan Heng and March 7th!
- March 7th: Were those lines rehearsed?
- Dan Heng: Where’s Natasha?
- Oleg: She has a bunch of other things to attend to, so I speak on her behalf. By the way, sorry for keeping that whole thing about her being the actual leader of Wildfire a secret. Hahaha!
- Oleg: She told me to make sure you return to the Overworld safely. The safest way is to ask this fella for help.
- Sampo: I brought you down. I can take you back up! Free of charge, satisfaction guaranteed.
- March 7th: …There’s no need to knock us out this time, right?
- Sampo: Of course not! This time we’ll go back through the Furnace Core.
- Dan Heng: Hold on. What about Bronya? Why isn’t she here?
- Seele: She already went back. As you know, she has some things to settle with the Supreme Guardian.
- March 7th: What? She just ditched us and went back? How could you let her…
- Seele: She has a lot of responsibilities to bear. I trust that she’s trying to solve the problem. Oh right, Bronya told me to give you this.
(Seele hands over the letter)
4. Letter From Bronya & The Landau Siblings
📜 Letter From Bronya
{NICKNAME}, March, Dan Heng:
By the time you read this letter, I should have returned to the Overworld and be on my way to see my mother. I apologize for not telling you of my plan. I was afraid that you would strongly object, which might sway my resolve.
Madam Cocolia raised me up, and I will never be able to repay her kindness. She taught me countless life lessons and virtues, as well as how to defend Belobog and its people. Even though she has lately made certain decisions that puzzled me, I can’t let go of all the precious memories I have with her. I must communicate my point of view and thoughts to her honestly, and seek to arrive at a mutual understanding with her — this is my goal as a daughter, but also my duty as a Silvermane Guard.
But I’m aware of the risks I might face on this journey. So, if I fail to win my mother’s approval—or if something happens to me—please forward this letter to the Landau siblings and ask for their help. Serval and Gepard are honorable people with enormous power in Belobog, and I have complete faith in them. I’m sure they will unreservedly help you in your search for the Stellaron once they see my seal and handwriting.
— Bronya Rand
- March 7th: Brother and sister Landau…? I know the brother must refer to Gepard, but who could the sister be… Oh, Serval! So she’s Gepard’s older sister!
- [Trailblazer] How very astute of you.
- March 7th: Blonde, tall, good-looking… sigh Those Landau genes sure are something else.
- [Trailblazer] I hope nothing happens to Bronya.
- Dan Heng: She gave it some good thought, but whatever’s going on in that supreme guardian’s head… Even Bronya might have trouble understanding.
- Dan Heng: Sampo, do you know the Landau siblings?
- Sampo: Landau… Uhh yeah, we’re old friends. I’ve mostly dealt with the younger brother in the past, but the sister… shudder She’s much scarier.
- Sampo: We can set out at any time. Just come find me when you’re ready~
Sinossi & Eventi Chiave
- Dan Heng: …Tutti e tre i sogni erano identici: Cocolia e quell’altra voce inquietante…
Forse ti accadono a causa…
- Seele: Lì imparai a leggere e scrivere grazie a Natasha. A dieci anni cominciai a pattugliare le miniere con Oleg, finendo ogni tanto a fare a botte con i teppisti locali…
- Bronya: …Sembra una bella vita.
- Seele: Bella? Mi stai prendendo in giro per caso?
- Bronya: Oh! No, perdonami.
- Seele: …No, non posso… Ma soprattutto, quale “linguaggio scurrile” avresti mai usato?
- Bronya: …
- Bronya: No, no, ti assicuro che non ce n’è bisogno!
- Bronya: Grazie, Seele. La tua fiducia significa moltissimo per me.
- Seele: A proposito… cosa farai adesso?
- Bronya: Ci ho riflettuto a lungo.
- March 7th: Finalmente ti sei svegliato, dormiglione! Ti abbiamo aspettato tutto il giorno!
- Dan Heng: {NICKNAME}, hai fatto altri sogni la notte scorsa?
- [Trailblazer] Niente sogni stavolta.
- [Trailblazer] Ho sognato che Hook e Pom-Pom litigavano.
- [Trailblazer] Non ricordo nulla.
(Avvicinandosi a Seele, Oleg e Sampo)
Come hai potuto lasciarla andare…
4. La Missiva di Bronya & I Fratelli Landau
📜 Lettera di Bronya
{NICKNAME}, March, Dan Heng:
— Bronya Rand
- March 7th: I fratelli Landau…? Oh, Serval! Quindi è la sorella maggiore di Gepard!
- [Trailblazer] Che perspicacia eccezionale.
- Sampo: I Landau…?
- Sampo: Possiamo partire in qualunque momento. Venite a chiamarmi appena siete pronti~
